Most cold outreach fails because people focus on volume instead of relevance. Here's what actually works.
Phase 1: Research (Week 1-2)
Before sending a single email:
- Define your ICP — Be specific. Not "SaaS companies" but "B2B SaaS with 20-100 employees, Series A, selling to marketing teams"
- Find 200 accounts that match perfectly
- Research 50 deeply — Find trigger events, recent hires, content they've published
Phase 2: Build Your List (Week 2-3)
Use this stack:
- Apollo or LinkedIn Sales Navigator for prospecting
- Hunter.io for email verification
- n8n to automate the enrichment pipeline
Phase 3: Write Your Sequences (Week 3)
The 5-touch framework:
Email 1: The Observation

Phase 4: Execute & Optimize (Week 4+)
- Send 50-80 emails/day per inbox
- Track reply rates by sequence step
- A/B test subject lines weekly
- Remove non-responders after the sequence
